Decisions and Change
28 April, 2013

Throughout our life we make many decisions, some very considered, others on impulse. Decisions about changes in our life direction and relationships can be some of the hardest, with fear of failure, or being laughed at, often meaning that decisions are not made. Having said this, I think that there is a common unspoken myth that a decision needs to be about change – we can actively decide not to change. What we have at the moment may be the best option. However, if it is not the case then change is the next step. Another myth is that changes need to be large to be of value. Small sustainable changes are often far more beneficial than big changes that last a few days or weeks.

Tips about Making Decisions and Change:

  1. Give yourself time to consider a decision.
  2. Gather the evidence you need to make the decision – if necessary.
  3. Consider the impact of the decision on you and others – now and in the future.
  4. Consider if change really needs to happen at all. No change is not always the risk-free option, but change for the sake of change is not always helpful.

Seek others’ support of you need it.
